Portland Roasting hires Nathanael May as
Barista Trainer
Barista Trainer
New hire hails from Java City, Starbucks and Disneyland Resort
Portland, Ore. – Nathanael May has joined the Portland Roasting Coffee Company team as barista trainer, effective immediately. In his new role, May assumes the responsibility of teaching Portland Roasting’s wholesale clients how to consistently create and serve the perfect cup of coffee or espresso beverage.
May joins Portland Roasting after nearly five years as a trainer and brand manager in the coffee industry, first for Starbucks in Folsom, Calif., and most recently for Java City in Sacramento, Calif. In between these management positions, May served as a barista at Peet’s in Folsom. Before pursuing the world of coffee, May was an admissions counselor for Florida College in Tampa for two years. The first five years of his career were at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif., where he was a resort orientation leader.
May attended Florida College in Tampa, and California State University Fullerton, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. A native of Anaheim, Calif., May lives in Lake Oswego with his wife and son. When he is not teaching the nuances of steaming milk and pulling shots, he enjoys hiking, singing and developing video blogs – see www.radthanael.com for his latest entry. May’s drink of choice is a double shot of espresso, preferably Ristretto.
