On Thrusday May 29th, we met at the lunch room in our school, where our teacher of religion, Ms Maria Auxiliadora Chaves, lead the Rosario prayer. We also prayed the mystery of joy and sang one song called “Maria, la Blanca Paloma” “ Maria, the white dove”. We had the opportunity to try a delicious hot desert made from rice and milk that help us to keep warm on the freeze weather that comes from winds produced by the tropical storm Alma.

On Friday, May 23th elections took place within our school “La Hilda”. That day we did not attend any class because we just went to vote for our preferred party and candidates that would eventually help our school and community. That same day we were informed about all the participants’ parties. We gave all our support to the party called “No drug consumption” but many other parties participated in this contest such as environment friends group, CSP (Comphrensive Student Party), TSP (Task Student party), Commitment Student Party and SP Students Party.

After praying the “Rosario” prayer we were informed about the outcome of the school election. The party called No drug consumption was the winner. The president or leader of this party was Martha Adila Valerio Mairena. She is currently in fifth grade, she is a nice schoolmate, very committed with work classes and she is always in good mood, very gentle, very outgoing and friendly.

The main commitment of this party is to avoid or diminish the consumption of drugs within the school and the local community. We believe she could help to lead this party to reach their goals.

I have spent all these days with in family house, because it was raining a lot. For this reason, I have not been able to go to the main square of our village and not even to my aunt’s house. The rain last a few days due to the tropical storm Alma. Those, were very bad days, I was bored, so much rain felt down during those days that the government declared the national Emergency so we were told to go home on Thrusday to avoid any accident. The storm hit the Nicaraguan country afterwards. Over here, houses located in Parrita and Perez Zeledon areas were damaged due to mug slide and flooding. We experienced a flood that hit national roads. Fortunately, the government and the National emergency commission provided a lot of support to overcome this problem.

In my house, I was able to hear the river stream as never before. I was scared but fortunately our house was not hit by the floods.

I would like to add that on May 19th we celebrated the National Grower day with a civic act at La Hilda School. Ms. Flor who is in charge of cooking lunch for this day asked us to bring fruits from our farm and we were very pleased to bring them.
