Marie Franklin,
National Sales Manager
From Philadelphia to Alaska and from Seattle to Portland, Marie has spent nearly two decades immersed in the specialty coffee industry. At Torrefazione Italia, she started out as a sales representative and worked her way up to Regional Manager and ultimately managed both Seattle Coffee Company’s brands for the Pacific NW. She also gained experience as a Master Roaster and Operations Manager for Heritage Coffee Company in Juneau, Alaska, as well as taking on General Manager duties for Old City Coffee Roasters in Philadelphia.
Her position as National Sales Manager provides Marie the opportunity to use her depth of knowledge and years of experience to bring PRC to the next level. Marie oversees all domestic, retail, foodservice and restaurant sales for the company. In the process, she nurtures local partnerships and alliances; develops pricing, programs and product mix; and leads a team of experienced coffee professionals.
Justin Goergen,
Key Account Manager
Justin Goergen earned his coffee chops as a barista in Corvallis, Oregon, his hometown. College life at St. Olaf, in Minnesota afforded him more opportunity to not only drink lots of coffee but to brew it and serve it as well. While in the Midwest, he spent two years as manager of a Whole Foods in-store coffee bar, including their bulk/retail coffee area and air roaster.
When the siren song of Portland beckoned, Justin returned home and ended up at Food Front Co-op, where as bulk-foods buyer he made coffee-buying decisions. Portland Roasting coffees became a favorite buy for him. His next employment search included knocking on Portland Roasting Company’s door. The rest is history. Justin secured work initially as a delivery driver then he moved into production and spent a short while as production supervisor, and then moving on to customer service supervisor. For Justin's present position, as Key Account Manager, he will ensure that Portland Roasting customers have all of their needs met.
During his tenure, Justin, ever the student, has gleaned much knowledge from the company’s cuppings and trainings. He has also been integral to the creation of the company’s EcoTeam and has set his sights on getting Portland Roasting certified as a RecycleWorks Business through the city’s Office of Sustainable Development. Justin’s personal eco-mission is to encourage the staff to reduce and reuse as much as possible – and choose recycling as the last resort of the waste cycle.
Jessica Crowley,
Account Manager

Jessica Crowley had her first taste of Portland Roasting Coffee at Boccherini’s Coffee and Tea House in Albany, Oregon, in 2004, when she brewed and served up the local roast to regulars. She became an instant fan of the coffee and company.
Crowley recently graduated from OSU with a BA in Business Administration and Marketing. While in school, she also helped open the Albany Human Bean coffee shop, her last gig before landing at Portland Roasting. She will parlay her newfound knowledge and café experience to her position as Account Manager where she will work directly with customers, troubleshooting and promoting strong and loyal business relationships.
The Sublimity, Ore-native grew up in a close-knit family and spends her spare time with her parents and younger brother. Usually outside at the lake, hiking or taking spur-of-the-moment road trips, she is rarely without her black lab, Tytus.
Coffee of choice for Crowley is a big cup of dark roast. Most enjoyable on Saturdays, she says.

Senior Sales Representative
Sacramento Office
Brian Cornelsen got hooked early on coffee – cappuccino to be precise. His first taste of the exotic and grown-up beverage sweetened with raw sugar struck his teenage tastebuds and ingrained him with a lifelong love of coffee. Although, now his palate prefers a perfectly brewed cup of black coffee – hold the sugar.
The Huntington Beach, Calif., native will take on the role of Senior Sales Representative, and from his Sacramento location will service Portland Roasting’s California and Nevada business, with a focus on building clientele in the Sacramento culinary community.
Cornelsen’s sales resume reaches back to his college years where he cold-called wholesale customers for a local bakery. He moved on to the Marriott International Hotel chain eventually managing a large sales team representing a 460-room hotel. Coffee sales were next on the horizon when he joined FETCO as West Coast Regional Manager. From here, he segued into a position at Java City in Sacramento area where he had settled with his family. He jumped at the opportunity to work for Portland Roasting’s first satellite office/warehouse and is happy to join a team that places excellent coffee and sustainable values high on its priority list.
Married, with two young boys, Cornelsen spends much of his spare time in a “Daddy Dogpile.” Not far from their home, lies the American River Canyons, and Cornelsen and family head out for hiking ventures. Closer to home, they amble over to the local Farmer’s Market. To keep himself in shape for all of the above, Cornelsen channels his former competitive swimmer and gets himself in the local pool as often as he can.
Emily Bryant,
Sales Representative
Emily Bryant hails from the Golden State, specifically the small town of Mt. Shasta. After a stop in the Bay Area and coffee shop work in San Luis Obispo, she made her way to Portland to attend the Western Culinary Institute where she completed a Patisserie and Baking program. Her time in California included 8 years at Starbucks where she trained baristas and taught classes on coffee basics. She will draw on this tenure in specialty coffee to build the independent accounts roster at PRC, calling on coffee shops and restaurants in her role as Sales Representative.
Portland Roasting caught Bryant’s eye because of its
commitment to building long-lasting relationships with its farmers and its
conscientious environmental record. She, too, lives an eco-friendly life
having secured an apartment in a gold-LEED certified building. She is
furnishing the place with various creations fashioned out of recycled
materials fished out of the Rebuilding Center.
Her favorite coffee – Americanos with cream and sugar or an occasional latte with honey. Both taste better on Sundays with the crossword in hand.
Martin Barrett,
Martin Barrett joins Portland Roasting as a Sales Representative bringing with him a set of skills culled from his colorful and varied work history as grape picker, steel erector, carnival hand, waiter, farmworker, English teacher, gas pump attendant, stand-up comedian, wine importer, handyman, Portland Roasting demo rep, and urban farmer – among others.
When not sharing the Portland Roasting story with future customers, Martin is most likely spending time with his 5-year-old daughter or going for a ride with The Thirsty Fathers, a night-cycling, bar shuffleboard and beer appreciation group that meets weekly. He will also pick up a camera to craft documentaries centered on local characters and their stories.
Martin is powered by 12-ounce single shot Americanos – with honey and lots of room for cream.
